Meet the Homeowners and Norfolk, NE
Our homeowners wanted to build a new custom home to raise their children. They work in agriculture and located the perfect property on the outskirts of town with acreage that was close to their children’s school.
Norfolk is the 7th most populous city in Nebraska. It was initially established in 1865/66 by German settlers from Ixonia, Wisconsin looking for productive inexpensive farmland that could be claimed under the Homestead Act. The original name of the colony was a variation North Fork. Norfolk is the historic home to the Hall brothers who created the Norfolk Post Card Company in 1908 which eventually became Hallmark Cards.
The Vision
Our homeowners knew they found their perfect home site when they saw the land and immediately fell in love with the valley views. They were interested in creating a mountain aesthetic with a modern take. The initial inspiration came from a Quarry Mill photo of a stone fireplace. The stone guided the vision of a modern mountain aesthetic and all of the design fell into place to complement the exterior.
Selecting the Stone
With the goal of creating a modern mountain aesthetic, our homeowners created a custom blend of Westgate and Wyndemere real thin stone veneer for their exterior, two fireplaces, and kitchen backsplash. The natural color variations in the stone helped cement the vision of their custom valley view home.
About Westgate and Wyndemere
Westgate is a neutral real quartzite veneer in the castle rock style. The colors range from white to black with some tans and grays in the mix. It pairs perfectly with Wyndemere. Wyndemere is a colorful castle rock style real quartzite thin stone veneer. The abundance of color comes from the variations in the mineral composition between the layers of stone. Wyndemere showcases grays, whites, tans, golds, and hints of red.
Completing the Project
Our homeowners love the exterior facade of their home. The custom blend of Westgate and Wyndemere natural stone veneer is the crowning jewel of the home that brought the design aesthetic together. They have received countless compliments on the stone and are thrilled with the appearance. They also love the quality and cohesive look of repeating the stone on the fireplace and kitchen backsplash.
