Meet the Homeowners and Kidder, MO
Our homeowner recently retired from a successful career as a business owner. She was inspired to take on the project of building her final forever home in Kidder, MO. As a new grandma, she wanted to create a place to spend time with family as well as create a farmhouse primitive inspired aesthetic.
Kidder is a small town in the north west region of Missouri. It was initially founded in 1860 by H.B. Kidder of the Kidder Land Company. Kidder wanted to encourage immigrants to settle westward near the furthest west railroad at the time (Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad).
The Vision
Our homeowner was interested in creating a farmhouse primitive style home with refurbished materials from barns, old homes, natural elements, and iron accents. She used all repurposed or natural products to create a warm and primitive vibe for her forever home. The vision for the stone was to create two fireplaces to enjoy and gather with family and friends.
Selecting the Stone
With the intention of creating a warm and primitive feel, our homeowner selected Feldberg natural thin stone veneer for her two fireplace projects. The color tones and irregular ledgestone pieces matched the desired aesthetic of warm and primitive our homeowner was after.
About Feldberg
Feldberg is a natural hand-picked fieldstone in the ledgestone style. The thin stone is cut exclusively from the edges of the pieces of fieldstone that are collected from farm fields and fence lines.
Completing the Project
Our homeowner used the Feldberg natural thin veneer for a 22’ great room fireplace and a second screened porch fireplace. The fireplaces are warm and inviting and create a statement piece in both rooms. The entire house features lots of detail in each and every space. The design expertly mixes and matches brick, stone, old wood, and lots of iron. Our homeowner couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome of her final and forever home.
