The Quarry Mill was great to work with. They shipped us beautiful high quality stone. We love the look of Kenai on our fireplace. Kenai real stone veneer is a natural basalt in the mosaic style. The stone has predominantly darker grey tones with hints of brown/rust. Kenai’s mosaic style takes you back in time to the old logging camps of beautiful northern Wisconsin. Kenai is a trap rock and is not quarried in the traditional sense as the stone is pulled from the wall in large vertical columns. This stone has not been sawn on the back but instead has a split back as the stone naturally breaks in approximately 1” thick layers. Stones like Kenai are sometimes referred to as “natural back”. This will have no effect on the installation of the final appearance.
