Winona is a dimensional style natural split face limestone veneer.  The stone shows the interior (split face) of natural Wisconsin limestone. Winona has beautiful gray tones with some mineral staining and creates a formal look with natural edges.

Winona is produced slightly differently than our other split face dimensional stones as it is extracted from a layered shelf rock quarry.  Instead of the stone being sawn out in large blocks, the slabs used to create Winona are peeled up layer by layer.  An excavator pushes its forks between the layers to extract them.  Because Winona comes from a shelf rock quarry, the stone has some occasional mineral staining due to the natural layering of the quarry.  Winona and other shelf rock limestones are sometimes referred to as “clean split” which is short for dimensional clean split limestone.
