Grosse Pointe Natural Thin Stone Veneer

Grosse Pointe is a thin natural limestone veneer in an ashlar pattern. The stone showcases off-white color tones with darker horizontal veining.

Grosse Pointe’s quarrying process is unique. Most natural stones are extracted from an open-pit mine while Grosse Pointe comes from a true subterranean mine. The mine is underground and the entrance resembles a cave. It is similar to how coal, gold, diamonds, and metallic ores are extracted.  The stone is cut out in blocks using a special diamond saw that resembles a large chainsaw on guide rails. Typically, stones quarried in large solid blocks are only available as a dimensional style which makes Grosse Pointe’s ashlar cut a unique offering.
