Salerno Natural Thin Stone Veneer
Salerno is an old-world tumbled real limestone thin veneer. The tumbled stone is labor-intensive to produce but the finished product is undeniably beautiful. Large sheets of limestone are quarried and placed on a large table to be sawn by a gantry or rip saw. The gantry saw rips the stone into strips with widths of 2.25”, 5”, and 7.75”. The strips are then split into blocks of manageable lengths. The blocks are fed into a large drum tumbler to have their rough edges ground smooth. Lastly, the tumbled blocks are fed into the veneer saw to be cut to a thickness of approximately 1”. Salerno can be installed with a standard half-inch mortar joint or with a flush or overgrout mortar technique for an old-world look.
