Sunset Natural Thin Stone Veneer

Description

Sunset is a beautiful and exceptionally hard granite natural thin stone veneer.  As the glaciers moved through Wisconsin, they left natural deposits of granite boulders.  The smaller pieces of stone are collected and sawn into our Fieldstone Cobbles.  The larger pieces which are generally the size of a car or sometimes even a school bus are broken into manageable pieces with dynamite using strategic blasting.  This blasting is done by drilling into the center of the boulders and placing charges approximately every four feet.  The resulting manageable chunks of granite are then split using the hydraulic press and sawn into the thin veneer.  Sunset has unique veining as it is the interior part of the granite.​
