Split Fieldstone is natural glacial deposit granite that we split with a hydraulic press to show the interior part of the stone.  The interior part of natural granite shows the raw colors of the stone itself.  There are some salt and pepper pieces, some reds, some sparkles, and some blacks which together create a beautiful blend of colors.  This granite is one of the hardest stones in terms of compressive strength that we work with. Creating the split fieldstone is unusually difficult and labor-intensive due to the hardness of the granite and the shape of the pieces. Split Fieldstone has irregular, round, or egg-shaped pieces before being split.  The hydraulic press puts 300 tons of pressure to split the fieldstone and the irregular shaped pieces have a tendency to jump off the press. The shapes, colors, and beauty of Split Fieldstone make this one of our most unique products.
